These rare Colombian coffee beans come from an isolated region that is currently controlled by an insurgent hostile militia. Hit hard by the civil war, the people of this region are forced to live with a low quality of life due to lack of economic options. Our partner, Karl, worked with farmer Ruben Higuita to get these beans from El Chucho (“the mutt”) out of the country during an opportune window. We are happy to bring these exceptional beans to you and in turn provide the people of this region a much needed financial reward for their excellent work.

There are no other specialty coffee exporters working in this region, so it is important that we continue to support Karl and Ruben Higuita in their efforts to produce excellent coffee and to create opportunities for the people of his community. When you purchase this coffee, you are playing a part in the effort to end the civil war in Colombia by providing real and non-illicit sources of income for the people of Peque, Antioquia.

Roasting and Shipping Schedule

This coffee is roasted and shipped every Monday. We ship all coffees via 2-Day shipping so that it will arrive to you as the coffee is entering the peak of it's flavor profile. Most coffees taste somewhat flat for the first 24 - 48 hours after the roast. During this phase, our coffee is in transit to you. By the time you receive it, it should be entering the peak consumption time that will last around 10 - 14 days.
